AMMAN — Coroners are trying to determine the cause of death of popular Jordan Television producer and director Victoria Omeish, who was found dead in her apartment on Tuesday, official sources said.
Omeish's body was discovered by family members, one source said.
“The authorities are investigating the matter,” he told The Jordan Times.
Omeish, 61, began her career with Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTVC) in 1970 as an assistant director.
She went on to direct and produce many television programmes and series, and for the last 10 years was the director and producer of “Yssid Sabahak” (Good morning), the JTV programme with the highest viewership.
“It was a great shock to us all at the station,” JRTVC Chairman Mustafa Hamarneh said in a statement yesterday.
“Victoria was so looking forward to the re-launch of her show. She was part of a senior team working with experts and screen-testing reporters for the upgrading and renovation of the programme. For the entire staff at the station, this is a great loss,” Hamarneh said.
